An increase in work may be made provided that the work subject to the increase remains within the project forming the basis of the contract and that it is technically or economically impossible to separate it from the original work without imposing a burden on the contracting authority. Up to ten per cent of the contract price for works tendered on a lump-sum turnkey basis, and up to twenty per cent for goods and services procurements and works tendered on the basis of unit-price bids, may be assigned to the same contractor within the framework of the contract and tender document provisions, excluding the contract period. In the event of an increase, additional performance security is obtained; if the limit must be exceeded, the work is tendered separately.
